ABOUT THE MESOPHOTIC ZONE RESEARCH PROGRAM IN amed
Join our Mesophotic Zone Research Program in Bali for a groundbreaking experience that takes you deeper — both scientifically and underwater.
Over 6 to 18 weeks, you’ll be trained in advanced RAID technical diving to safely reach depths of up to 50 meters and conduct surveys in the mesophotic zone — one of the least studied marine ecosystems on Earth. You’ll document deep coral ecosystems, assess species diversity, and contribute to pioneering research that informs global marine conservation strategies.
Based at GOA Surya Bulakan, our beachfront accommodation (private or shared ensuite rooms with fan and desk) provides the perfect setting to focus on fieldwork, data analysis, and developing a personal project that makes a real contribution to ocean protection.
In Amed, Bali, our program combines intensive underwater research with land-based training in data analysis, reef monitoring, and scientific protocols. You’ll also develop a personal project guided by expert supervisors, making your contributions both academic and impactful.
Weekends are free to explore Bali and enjoy the island’s culture and biodiversity.
