TRY DIVING IN AMED: PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
Curious about scuba but not ready for a full certification? The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program (DSD) is the perfect introduction. Often called a baptême de plongée or intro dive, this one-day experience lets you try scuba diving in Bali under the guidance of a professional instructor — no prior certification or experience needed.
Amed, a relaxed village on Bali’s east coast, offers ideal beginner conditions: calm bays, shallow coral reefs, and gentle slopes where new divers feel safe and comfortable. During your DSD, you’ll learn basic scuba skills in our pool, then enjoy two ocean dives exploring vibrant reefs filled with clownfish, parrotfish, and other tropical species. Depending on conditions, you may even get a glimpse of the legendary USAT Liberty wreck in Tulamben, one of the most accessible shipwrecks in the world.
This introductory scuba course is designed for complete beginners who want to discover the magic of breathing underwater in a safe and fun way. It’s the perfect holiday activity for families, couples, or solo travelers looking for an unforgettable adventure in Bali.

DAY BY DAY: YOUR DISCOVER SCUBA ADVENTURE
Although it’s just one day, the PADI Discover Scuba Diving course in Amed combines theory, skill practice, and real dives — giving you a genuine first taste of scuba.
Follow each step with your instructor in Amed, from your first skills in shallow water to open ocean dives.
MORNING
You’ll begin with a safety briefing and introduction to scuba gear. Your instructor will explain how to equalize, how to clear your mask, and the basics of buoyancy. Then you’ll practice these skills in shallow water or pool-like conditions in Amed, learning to breathe comfortably underwater at your own pace.
AFTERNOON
Once you feel confident, it’s time for the ocean! You’ll enjoy two guided dives in sites like Jemeluk Bay — famous for its shallow coral gardens and statues — or the beginner-friendly Liberty wreck in Tulamben. Expect colorful reefs, curious reef fish, and the thrill of swimming underwater for the very first time. With your instructor always by your side, you’ll feel safe and free to explore Bali’s underwater paradise.

Recommend the Dive Culture diving centre which was recommended to me by a diving centre in a neighbouring town. I had two day’s of fun dives including the wreck of the USAF Liberty in Loïc’s safe hands. Thanks: I have enjoyed myself.

We spent 3 days diving with Dive Culture in Amed and had a great experience. The team was professional, very flexible, and made everything easy from start to finish. Amed is an incredible place to dive, but 3 days felt way too short to really see it all. Hope to be back soon with Dive Culture!

Dive Culture is absolutely amazing! Without speaking a word of English, my aunts were taken care of by the amazing instructor DouDou and Dive Master Christina! Now that we have dipped our toes into scuba diving, we’ll sure be back for more with Dive Culture!
