What makes diving in Amed so special?

Amed is one of Bali’s most popular dive locations, which is no surprise. While there may be less to do in Amed than in other places in Bali, it also has its charms. So what can you expect when you go diving in Amed? Here are some examples.

A New Atmosphere

When you first arrive in Bali, you are immediately welcomed by the great Balinese atmosphere. A rich culture, beautiful sights, diversity and cool parties. Bali is a busy tourist island, but if you want to find peace, you must visit Amed. This lovely fishing village in the east of Bali exudes tranquillity and has not yet been affected by Western culture. Life in Amed is more peaceful than the south of Bali, which is why diving here is also so nice. Most diving schools can get you to the right location within 5 to 10 minutes!

Good environment for beginners

In general, the sea and dive sites in Amed are a good start for beginners. You can expect calm waters with little current. Many people in Bali, therefore, start their first dive in Amed for this reason. Hence, Amed is so popular among divers. The bars in Amed also close at 11 pm, allowing you to get up early the next day for a fresh dive! Of course, nature can be surprising, where challenges can arise. But don’t worry, our dive instructors will help you through these.

Muck diving

Muck diving does not sound as appealing to people, but we promise it is one of the most beautiful things in the diving world. Among the sand are all small fish and other animals such as nudibranchs, octopuses and squids. These animals make the sand in Amed their habitat. Underwater photographers also love to photograph this sand as there is always something happening. So don’t be confused if a diver photographs the sand, just ask for the results.

Pyramids and statues

Besides the beautiful coral in Amed, there are more things to see underwater. To improve the ecosystem, people have built pyramids underwater so the coral can grow better. As the coral grows underwater, underwater animals will live around it. There are also traditional stone statues underwater in Amed, also great for taking photos of!

Dive Culture

Dive Culture is one of the most popular dive schools in Amed the only IDC (Instructor Development Course) dive school. Since April 2014 we’re operating in Amed, due to covid our dive centre had to close. But we cannot wait to start again in 2023 at our new location!
